Transmissions in commercial vehicles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, and vans – especially those utilized for carrying or towing – are exposed to intense use and high heat. Fluids degrade at elevated temperatures, allowing for harmful metal-to-metal contact and the production of sludge and deposits. The issue is exacerbated in contemporary gearboxes, which have more gears, clutch packs, and tiny oil passageways that demand clean, high-quality fluid to work optimally and last as long as possible.
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is designed to endure the challenges of heavy hauling, high temperatures, and difficult terrain. It maintains its fluidity at sub-zero temperatures and offers reserve protection under intensive usage and even abuse.
Proven in 180,000-mile, Severe-Service Taxi Fleet Field Trial
AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF was fitted in Las Vegas taxi taxis to demonstrate its performance in rigorous service. The cars were frequently subjected to strenuous stop-and-go driving while transporting passengers and freight, and the desert climate provided extremely high ambient temperatures, putting tremendous strain on the fluid. A transmission was chosen for study after 180,000 kilometers. The Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test (ABOT) is a recognized industry test for determining the oxidation resistance of a transmission fluid, which is a good indicator of its service life. After 180,000 miles in harsh usage, an independent third-party lab found that Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF withstood oxidation longer than necessary for fresh fluid to fulfill the Chrysler ATF+4 specification (see graph). Internal components, such as the valve body and clutch plates (shown), were almost free of sludge, deposits, and wear, demonstrating the lubricant's excellent degree of protection for severe-service applications.
Protects Against Thermal Breakdown
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with high concentrations of antioxidants, making it naturally heat resistant. It provides outstanding protection against sludge and varnish deposits that clog narrow oil passages and contribute to clutch glazing. After 180,000 miles in severe service, fluid analysis revealed Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF contained 83 percent of its original oxidation inhibitors, proving its long-lasting resistance to thermal breakdown.
Outstanding Wear Protection
Varying speeds and loads causes torque multiplication and extreme stress on gears and bearings. AMSOIL formulated Signature Series Synthetic ATF with high film strength and premium anti-wear/extreme-pressure additives to help prevent wear during severe service. In the industry-standard FZG Gear Wear Test, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF that had been used for 180,000 severe-service miles achieved a “Pass” at stage 12 – the highest stage. The results exceeded the Ford MERCON V and Chrysler ATF+4 specifications for new fluid, demonstrating the lubricant's long-lasting wear protection.
Cold-Temperature Fluidity
Shift times are lengthened and fuel economy is reduced when automatic transmission fluid is cold and thick. The wax-free AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic ATF has exceptional cold-flow qualities. It aids in shift reaction, energy efficiency, and warm-up time reduction.
Friction Durability
Today's transmissions are smaller and therefore must handle more horsepower and torque while producing smoother shifts, all while adhering to extended fluid life guidelines. The friction modifier additives in AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic ATF provide superior clutch-holding capacity (static friction), torque-transfer ability (dynamic friction), and anti-shudder qualities (slipping torque-converter clutches). After 180,000 miles of hard use, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF has almost comparable friction qualities as fresh fluid, resulting in smooth, dependable shifts.
Applications
Transmissions, hydraulics, power steering systems, and other applications that need any of the following criteria should use AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF.
